PeopleSoft Japan and NTT Comware jointly develop quick implementation technique for payroll calculation system

Business process base implementation technique will contribute to cost reduction

27 July 2004, Tokyo

PeopleSoft Japan (hereinafter, PeopleSoft; Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Craig Halliday) and NTT Comware Corporation (hereinafter, NTT Comware; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuhji Imai) have jointly developed the technique "Global Payroll Value Process Quick Implementation (hereafter, Value Implementation)" that will allow for the quick implementation of PeopleSoft's payroll calculation product, "PeopleSoft® Enterprise Global Payroll (hereinafter, Global Payroll)". A consulting service jointly provided by both companies will begin from today.

Value Implementation combines a quick implementation technique for the Global Payroll system developed by PeopleSoft based on Japanese business practices with a consulting service founded on NTT Comware's extensive experience in the system implementation.
The flexibility and versatility of the Global Payroll system, the leading product in the industry, allow it to be easily adapted to any payroll calculation logic. Through Value Implementation, which allows users to maximize use of this system's special features, it is possible to implement Global Payroll in a short period of time and this will allow users to reduce their total cost.

Value Implementation, adaptable to changing business environments, was developed to contribute to the reduction of total cost from the time the system is first implemented into the future. Normally, the implementation of a payroll calculation system involves the extensive definition of all system requirements, an activity that can lead to increased costs. However, with Value Implementation, a "standard business process" is used to optimize system requirement definition in order to determine the most rational work-flow for the customer. This allows for a significant reduction in both the number of staff and amount of time required to complete the project.

The Global Payroll system provides various elements that increase the efficiency of the payroll system logic. Through the combination of these elements, Global Payroll can be used for diverse payroll systems within any industry. This reduces the amount of customization normally required when implementing a payroll system, and also reduces costs associated with operation and maintenance. Furthermore, as changes to the payroll calculation logic can easily be made by the payroll administrator, Global Payroll can be adapted to even significant changes that may occur in the payroll system in the future.

Shigeru Yanagizawa, Senior Vice President and Enterprise Solutions Division Executive Manager of NTT Comware Corporation made the following comment. "Value Implementation, founded on NTT Comware's knowledge of personnel systems implementation, will allow users to fully utilize the special features of PeopleSoft Enterprise Global Payroll. This, in turn, will allow users to respond quickly and flexibly to the demands of their customers in this era of change."

Craig Halliday, PeopleSoft Japan President, made the following comment. "PeopleSoft Enterprise Global Payroll provides a global-level payroll calculation solution that can be adapted not only to present but future system changes. I am confident that our partnership with NTT Comware will contribute to the efforts of our Japanese customers to reduce their total costs."
