Sales Begin for AdminITy, the Low Cost IT Asset Management and Security Measures Software
On September 9th, NTT COMWARE CORPORATION (hereinafter, NTT COMWARE; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuhji Imai) began sales of "AdminITy", a terminal management software. Through the functions provided by this software, "AdminITy" allows for the effective management of not only IT assets, but also the security systems of individual terminals at a low cost.

[ Overview of AdminITy ]
AdminITy collects and analyses user information including: the hardware specs and various versions of software for PCs, printers and routers; contract information; and the determination of user status. Through its asset management functions, AdminITy provides for total asset management from planning and purchasing through to maintenance. In addition, AdminITy monitors the security software at each terminal and includes a function that notifies terminal users not equipped with the latest version of that software. Through the efficient management of security software and IT assets such as PCs, AdminITy allows for the reduction of total cost which includes the human resources required for purchasing, maintenance and management.
The main functions of AdminITy are as follows:

The Asset Information Management function which administers information including fixed assets and lease classification, as well as lease periods. |

The IP Address Management function which manages the usage status of IP addresses for network connection devices. |

The Software Licensing Management function which automatically compiles information on all installed software and manages licensing. |

The Equipment Movement Monitoring function which automatically monitors the movement and the addition of equipment. |

The Software Distribution function which allows software managers to distribute software at their discretion. |

The Antivirus function which monitors updates for virus definition files, manages scan status and sends e-mail notices to terminal users. |

The Security Software Patch function which monitors updates to OS and browser security measures and sends e-mail notices to terminal users. |
In addition, if Microsoft Visio ® (*1) is installed, the Network Map Management function, which manages LAN network maps, can also be used to construct network maps that are linked to asset information.
AdminITy can also be used in the management of assets other than IT equipment such as furniture, and this system is useful in increasing the efficiency of inventory and other work.
[ Special Features of AdminITy ]
The Security Dictionary, which incorporates information on the latest virus definition files and the latest versions of security software, is prepared under the inspection of NTT COMWARE and is made available at all times. This dictionary is accessed automatically by the AdminITy system and is used to verify whether the virus file definitions and the security software versions at each terminal are up-to-date. This information is indicated on the terminal management list by either an O (they are) or an X (they are not). This enables administrators who are not aware of the latest developments in viruses and software to determine the security system status for each terminal immediately. Through these functions, NTT COMWARE strongly supports administrators in the completion of the time consuming task of determining the security status of each terminal.
[ Types of AdminITy Available ]
Three types of AdminITy are available to meet the different needs of customers. These are IT Asset Management, Security System Management, as well as Integrated Terminal Management which combines the first two management types into one. In addition, a volume discount is available to customers purchasing on a large scale. The minimum sales unit is 100 licenses.

[ Course of Events Leading Up to the Sale of AdminITy ]
AdminITy is the upgraded version of the LAN Information Management Service/System which was first released in 2000 as a terminal management software, and which combines improvements in operability and function together with low cost. AdminITy was developed through technical partnership with CORE CORPORATION (Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Chief Operating Officer: Shouji Ide) which is involved in the field of asset management. As the successor product to the LAN Information Management Service/System sales of AdminITy began in July of this year. Based on the results from the operation of the terminal management systems in approximately 20,000 terminals, improvements were made in the function and operability of the system under a large-scale environment. This work has culminated in the release of AdminITy V3.0.5 which will expand sales of this product.
[ Background to the Development of AdminITy ]
Although office work has been made increasingly more efficient through the application of IT technology, the increase in the number of IT machines, the diversification of software applications and the increasing complexity of networks has complicated the management of IT assets. In addition, from the point of view of security concerns including the prevention of information leakage and antivirus measures, the ability to determine the total terminals connected to a network and to determine and improve the security measures at each terminal is becoming an increasingly important issue for companies. In order to resolve this type of problem and to reduce the cost of terminal management, to promote compliance with software licensing agreements and to promote security policy, a terminal management software that can manage efficiently is essential.
