NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION launches Manabu IT! WBT service
Web-based training services offer businesses low-cost, high capacity training courses for IT engineers
NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Yuji Matsuo) will inaugurate Manabu IT! Web-Based Training (WBT) services for IT engineers on November 1, 2000.
Engineers urgently require in-depth IT knowledge for businesses, where IT plays an important role in effective management. However, conventional training courses face a number of challenges including (1) the need to schedule training according to the availability of course providers, (2) limits on the number of participants, and (3) the cost of travel to training sites as well as the cost of obtaining or maintaining training facilities in the face of rising demand for short-term, high capacity and low-cost courses that are available on flexible schedules. WBT has attracted attention as a response to these challenges and as a supplement to other training opportunities.
Anyone with access to a computer with a Web browser can participate in NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION's Manabu IT! WBT courses, at work, home, or any other location, at any convenient time within the preset timeframe. Training materials rich in graphics and images make learning easy even for novices. Experts with in-depth knowledge welcome questions from trainees supported by NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION 's wealth of experience in product development. A user-friendly FAQ ( *1 ) bulletin board, filled with useful information on answers to commonly asked questions, further encourages participants to learn at their own pace. A "one-glance" course listing displays individual progress against time. The courses are followed by examinations to confirm how well participants have comprehended specific topics, and refresher materials can be downloaded for reference after the completion of the course.
Courses are provided in a variety of flexible ways; multiple enterprises can share use via access to the NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION ASP server, or individual companies can install the course on a server installed on site. The single enterprise version includes a comprehensive package of networking and system configurations as well as the Web-based content of training materials. Travel and facility costs are dramatically reduced, as well as instructor fees, while accommodating a virtually unlimited number of participants. The training administrator releases participants from cumbersome scheduling problems by allowing participants to schedule course work at their convenience, before or after work, during lunch or at any other available time.
