NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Yuji Matsuo) has signed a contract with IBM Japan, Ltd. ("IBM" Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo President: Takuma Ootoshi) on IT services.
NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION provides total solutions comprising technologies for integrating computers and networks through configuration, operation, and maintenance of various main business processing systems of the NTT Group and global information distribution carriers, as well as network management technologies, such as networks for communication carriers and corporate LAN systems.
IBM provides expertise on IT tools, methods, processes, large-scale and complex systems, and e-business solutions based on ample experience in outsourcing.
The contracted agreement will enable the two enterprises to take full advantage of their core competencies to contribute to the development of the IT industry and a highly sophisticated information society.
This basic agreement covers application development and maintenance service, operation management, user support, and other IT-related services and will go into effect this December. The contracting period is 10 years, at an estimated business size of ¥1,500 billion, making it the largest in the IT industry.
IBM, the global leader in e-business solutions, intends to improve and expand its e-business capacity in collaboration with NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION. NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION, the information system provider of the NTT Group, seeks to advance the effectiveness of IT by utilizing the diverse solutions offered by IBM, and expand business activities beyond the NTT Group to the wider public by obtaining technologies that meet public demand.
By collaborating on development, operations, management, and maintenance of NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION's specialized information systems, IBM and NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION will provide the NTT Group with advanced, highly sophisticated e-business services, while also boosting NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION's productivity.
At the same time, the extensive range of NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION's proprietary network technology will enable the two enterprises to expand and improve e-business and network services in the Asia-Pacific Region.
This contract empowers IBM to rapidly develop business-related services in Japan. It enables NTT COMMUNICATIONWARE CORPORATION to increase revenues and improve its business activities to more quickly respond to market demand and enhance its customer service.
