(hereinafter MANUGISTICS, Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President: Richard F. Bergmann) in collaboration and starting November, 2001 will jointly develop an SCM Solution, using MANUGISTICS company products, and will market and distribute it focusing on manufacturing, distribution, and service industries.

[Conventional Actions]
NTT COMWARE has conventionally provided SCM total solution, which conducts combined construction of the mainstay system with the warehouse management system linked with that system, to the NTT Group. "NetWORKS Demand", which possesses the demand forecasting function of MANUGISTICS, is adopted as the core of the solution. As all information relating to sales can be shared by all related companies and with sales based on demand forecasts, product distribution can be precisely planned with constant appropriate stock maintenance can lower costs and enhance profit margins.

[Solution Characteristics]
NTT COMWARE and MANUGISTICS, based on their past accomplishments, will jointly offer a high value-added CPFR (Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment) Solution to the manufacturing and logistics industry. With the CPFR Solution, multiple companies that compose the supply chain share the same information, and by doing so, heighten the accuracy of the demand forecast and makes possible constant supply of products without running out of stock by devising optimum production plans. Each company has accumulated data that includes various causation relationships. For example, for the manufacturing side company "manufacturing volume rises a few % whenever it rains" and for the retail side company "sales of a certain product rises a few % whenever a special sale is conducted on a certain day of the week". This Solution improves the accuracy of the data of each company and also by each company contributing their respective accumulative data. Many companies in the US have already implemented this Solution.

[Collaboration Significance]
NTT COMWARE, which offers total solution from system construction to maintenance and operation as wells as consulting and outsourcing services in the information communication field, aims to become the leading company in the SCM field. On the other hand, MANUGISTICS, with its know-how fostered from sales of its company products, will vigorously support NTT COMWARE to increase the market share of SCM products. Both companies will jointly develop a proposal and implement and an improved information system focused on managerial betterment.
