[Present Condition of the IP Network]
The number of companies and individuals that utilize the internet is increasing at a significant rate. The "e-Japan Plan", which is the core of Japan's communication policy, strongly supports this trend and it is estimated that the various information communication services will shift to a IP base. However, in the present situation where cost is decreasing in call charges using the existing public network (PSTN*1) IP network expansion with just voice communication (VoIP) will not be realized. In such a case, it can be said that what the market is demanding is an IP base low-cost, high quality "VoIP" as well as the providing of high reliability and high value-added services.
[Achievements of NTT COMWARE]
NTT COMWARE will technically support the business expansion of FUSION COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION (hereinafter FUSION, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Tadahisa Sumida) by connecting the PSTN and the IP network of FUSION as well as installing the soft switch. Especially with the connecting of the PSTN and the IP network, technology to correspond to the No. 7 common channel signaling system (SS7*2) becomes necessary. Although the basic part of the SS7 is established as an international standard, as function supplements are allowed depending on the country requirements, each country has its own characteristic system. NTT COMWARE, with its many capabilities of providing total construction, / maintenance / operation of the NTT information communication system and full knowledge of the carrier grade and the SS7 of Japan, has realized a 70% reduction of the call charge of its domestic and international 29 bases by completing the VoIP of its intracompany network. With proven technology know-how NTT COMWARE will provide one stop total solution with the next generation network.
[Solution Development]
The Next Generation Network Solution is roughly divided into that for "carrier businessmen" and that for "companies" and provides general purpose individual solutions and services that conform to the type and conditions of the operation.
- Carrier Business Solution
Participating from the time of business establishment, NTT COMWARE will construct custom made systems that fit the demands of the carrier company. For large-scale carriers having large number of customers, by providing such technology as soft switch, as preparations and installations of hardware such as exchange facilities becomes unnecessary, support of speedy business establishment while controlling investments will be possible. Also, as all communications will become IP transmissions, it will be easy to provide high value-added services such as links to the internet. Solutions targeted at carriers such as xDSL, CATV, and FITH, can be combined with soft switch technology to provide not only data transmission but voice transmission service by IP possible. With this, the access carrier company will be able to develop new service business. Furthermore, NTT COMWARE, with its full knowledge of carrier services, will provide one stop support of system designs to operation / observation / maintenance and even billing services to carrier companies.
[Main Demonstration Contents]
- Pure IP Class5 Softswitch
A soft switch with subscriber exchange functions for domestic communication companies.
- Pure-IP Type Media Server
Provides high value-added services such as SCE (service creation environment), which makes easy set-up of service scenarios and the integration of voice, image, data, and the internet with the correspondence of the IP protocol.
- IP Communication Manager
Linking with the respective transmission services on the IP network, by compound combinations of transmission methods such as VoIP, e-mail, chats, image transmissions and file transference will provide more convenient and high level communication environments.
- Solutions for Companies
By changing the communication network between bases, such as the head office and branches, within a single company to an IP network, not only will the call charge costs be reduced, but by installing the IP-PBX at the end to end of finance oriented companies, securing of information confidentiality will also be possible. By using the "IP Centrex", which allows multiple companies to share the soft switch installed in the building of a carrier company, an even greater reduction of call charge costs can be realized. On the service side, high value-added services such as the transmissions of voice mails and the transmission of voice messages converted into text mails can be utilized. A solution for companies that develop customer business, where contact (reception) centers are the key, the "IP Contact Center Solution", which combines multiple access channels such as the Web, E-mail, and FAX, will be provided. Furthermore, to realize location free contact centers, a virtual contact center can be realized on the IP network to connect the main center with the satellite centers. Customer information collected at these centers will be interlocked with other systems such as CRM or ERP in order to make real time reflections on sales and management strategies possible and will construct a value-added Next Generation Network for the company.
[Main Demonstration Contents]
- IP Contact Center
Integration of multiple access methods such as voice, e-mail, and webs into the IP network for the customer reception centers of distribution and retail industries as well as the realization of location free virtual contact centers.
- ONYX E-BUSINESS ENGINE
Analyzes information such as customer information and correspondence history and not only predicts accurate customer needs, but by linking with other solutions such as ERP, powerfully supports company sales / management strategies. Also, when searching for necessary information, by intervening multiple portal interfaces with simple operations, extracts information to support sales activities.
- ONYX EMPLOYEE PORTAL
By collecting, integrating, and sharing information obtained by customer window sections (Marketing, Sales, Service) and partner companies (agents), it is possible to conduct effective sales activities and campaigns.
- Internet Collaboration
Realizes virtual cram schools and/or video chats by merging multiple information such as voice and image / texts.
- Video Conference System
Realizes conventional television conference systems on the IP network and has made possible not only exchange of voices and images, but also reference material on the same screen.
- Reception System
Realizes visitor reception by voice and image while staying seated in his/her own desk, by integrating visitor reception terminals on a Voiceover Internet Protocol. Images of the visitor may also be viewed in the security room, making enhancement of security possible as well.
- Simple Extension Telephones
Realization of a simple extension telephone using the computer terminal on his/her desk. Troublesome extension number allotments are not necessary and simple settings on Web screens of various setting such as seated, transfer, or dial-in denial makes this an optimum product for small-scale offices and SOHOs.
[Regarding the New Generation Network Lab] In the future, at the Next Generation Network Lab, new products and solutions will be replaced and added as occasion demands in order to be able to make a presentation of the optimum solution to the customer. Furthermore, this lab will be operated for presentations, demonstrations, and seminars for NTT COMWARE customers.
[Terminology Explanation] (*1) PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) Refers to the general subscribed telephone line network. Otherwise called the "public telephone switched circuit". It is used to conduct voice phones by connecting the telephone to the terminal then connecting to the other party with the circuit switching system. In order to conduct data transmission, it is necessary to connect a modem between the computer and the telephone line, and to conduct interchange of the data row and the audio signal.
(*2) SS7 It is standardized by ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector) as the common channel signaling system (the signaling system to exchange information such as telephone numbers between telephone lines / telephone switchboards when interconnecting telephone networks and/or telephone switchboards) that corresponds to the digital network
