Sophisticated and high-reliability IP Centrex, IP-PBX solution
"Softswitch SS70V" sales partner program launched

The NTT COMWARE CORPORATION (hereinafter, NTT COMWARE, Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Yuji Matsuo) will start its sales partner program of the "Softswitch SS70V (hereinafter, SS70V)" as of July 1st. The SS70V, by installing it into the intra-company network, not only realizes a high value-added VoIP environment, but creates new business opportunities by telecommunications carriers when installed in service networks of the telecommunications carriers. NTT COMWARE launched sales of the SS70V in early 2002, and from its popularity in the domestic market has decided to start this sales partner program. In the future, the SS70V will be widely developed in the domestic market as a serious high quality function and high-reliability IP Centrex as well as IP-PBX solution, by cooperating with its partner in sales as well as marketing of the product.

[Characteristics]

The functions of SS70V includes "voice mail", which accumulates voice messages in servers during absences, "unified message", which transmits accumulated messages as attached documents of e-mail to specified e-mail addresses, "desk top portal", which allows telephone operations on the computer, "web portal", which makes possible telephone conference reservations and reference of telephone number lists on the web interface, "portability", which sets telephone numbers to optional IP telephones that connect to intra-company networks, as well as other assorted functions. Of course basic functions of business scenes such as extension telephones, telephone call holds, telephone call forwarding, pick up, intra-group simultaneous ringing, caller ID, and telephone conferences are packaged as well as an efficient ACD (*1), which equally distributes received telephone calls to telephone operators, and various API (*2) to allow interface with other systems. It can accommodate from a minimum of 100 extension lines to a maximum of 100,000 extension lines with 1 system.

[Offer pattern]

By setting the SS70V which possess functions necessary for business use, within a company it is possible to utilize conventional PBX functions as IP-PBX that is achieved with the VoIP technology. Even in large-scale firms where branch locations are spread out, the SS70V can contain the extensions lines of all the locations in 1 system and by doing so, compared to installing the IP-PBX at each location, can provide more than equal service at low costs. Replacements with conventional PBX are of course possible as well as coexistence or simultaneous use with existing PBX and it can flexibly accommodate formats that meet the needs of the customer. By adopting world standard protocols such as SIP (*3) and MGCP (*4), it can flexibly accommodate multiple manufacturer hardware combinations and its expandability is superior as well.
Also, by installing the SS70V in telecommunications carriers, it is possible to offer "IP Centrex" services, which hosts assorted functions with the VoIP. An issue that arises when offering IP Centrex services to companies is the "FireWall/NAT/DHCP (*5)" that is installed in the companies. With ordinary VoIP systems it is difficult to provide this service under a "FireWall/NAT/DHCP" environment, but with the SS70V this service may be realized while maintaining the security level without having to install new hardware in intra-company networks. Furthermore, with its duplicate format of the communications processor, telephone calls will not be affected even in one in a million facility down times. With the SS70V, new businesses and IP Centrex services can be developed by access system companies to large-scale telecommunications carriers and businesses that receive the service will be able to utilize high value-added services in businesses while holding down capital investments to a minimum.

[Affiliation / sales strategy]

With regards to the SS70V, the product offered is the best of its kind within the industry as an IP Centrex as well as IP-PBX solution, and it has adopted as its platform the voice application server, "VOISS (*6)" of the US Vocal Data company (Head Office: Texas, U.S.A., CEO: Michael Camp), an independent software development vendor with installations in many carriers centering mainly in the US. Merging the know how that NTT COMWARE possesses from its engagement in the domestic communications network with that of VOISS, the 2 companies have cooperatively planned and developed service specifications and applications suited to the Japanese market. From its sales launch in early 2002, the SS70V has already been sold to numerous companies within Japan totaling over 12,000 lines and it has been well received by the installing companies. In the future, NTT COMWARE will further strengthen its relationship with the Vocal Data company and will pursue the addition of new functions and the expansion of supports such as media gateways (*7), media servers (*8), IP telephones, and IAD (*9). Furthermore, NTT COMWARE will widely solicit sales partners and will move sales as well as marketing of the product into high gear in cooperation with its new partners.
