[Accreditation level and accreditation object]
The accreditation level acquired is "CMM Level 3" stating that documentation, standardization, integration, and qualitative management of software development processes is being executed and the accreditation object is the approximately 300 pilot project employees of the System Headquarters that handles system development within the company. At NTT COMWARE, as of January of this year, with the pilot project, installation of the CMM has been promoted to improve process up-grading. Usually, companies that have been accredited the CMM Level 3, acquire the accreditation after an average of 21 months from consideration to accreditation, but NTT COMWARE acquired the accreditation in approximately 9 months. It can be said that the accomplishments acquired by NTT COMWARE up to now, such as the standardization of software development and the accumulation of productivity improvement technology, were the key to this quick accreditation.
[Accreditation background]
At NTT COMWARE, on a routine basis, efforts are being made on process improvements so as to be able to conduct maintenance of technology development and environment in order to improve the productivity and quality of each project, as well as to improve and maintain stable development capabilities. NTT COMWARE acquired the ISO9001 in 1997. In order to strengthen our competitive edge in the market, NTT COMWWARE have engaged in process improvements with the installment of the CMM, which makes objective assessment of our capabilities possible.
[Future endeavors]
At NTT COMWARE, we will expand the CMM Level accreditation to the approximately 3000 employees, which makes up the System Headquarters, by July 2003. At the same time, we will obtain the lead assessor qualification to be able to assume a leadership role in the software development process improvement activity both within and outside of our company as well as deploying process improvement based on the CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration : CMM integration), which adds system engineering to the CMM.
