Integration of the Softswitch and the IP telephone
An optimum solution for business use
The NTT COMWARE CORPORATION (hereinafter, NTT COMWARE, Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Yuji Matsuo) has certified the SIP(*1) compliant IP telephone "SIP-2000" of SANYO Multimedia Tottori Co., Ltd. as the interconnection IP telephone for the NTT COMWARE Softswitch "SS70V". The company will promote further expansion of the VoIP market with the integration of the "SS70V" and the "SIP-2000".

[Characteristics of the integrated solution]
With the Softswitch "SS70V" and the IP telephone "SIP-2000" integrated solution, the SIP compliant IP telephone dramatically expands its general functions with the coalition of Softswitch and includes all of the functions necessary in Japanese business activities such as the sharing of dial-in numbers. As its main function, it includes holding, forwarding, pick-up, caller name display, ringing sound switch, and multi-lines as well as voice mail, telephone conferences, and NAT/FireWall/DHCP(*2) compliance. Its style and compact design was developed to fit the Japanese office situation (width 180mm x length 215mm x height 91mm : during the use of handset attachment), and with its integration with the "SIP-2000" which was manufactured for easy operation, it is highly convenient.
For communications between the "SS70V" and the "SIP-2000", it will not only flexibly comply to future added services but it also uses the SIP stipulated by the IETF (*3), which is highly expandable. SIP is widely used in VoIP devices because of its high affinity with internet applications, and is rapidly spreading in the market. It is considered to become the standard protocol of the VoIP.

The "SS70V" provides all-in-one service for all business needs and it realizes high level communication environment in the office. It not only offers services such as extension lines, holding, forwarding, pick-up, simultaneous ringing, caller information display, and call waiting, but it also offers such various expansion services such as telephone conferences, voice mail, and unified messages (*4). It also resolves to the "NAT/FireWall/DHCP" problem, which arises with the installment of the VoIP system, and it achieves a high value-added VoIP environment as the IP-PBX solution of the intra-company network. When installed by a telecommunications carrier, it will enable the carrier to offer hosting style "IP Centrex" services with an assortment of functions with the VoIP to company users. As the platform for the &qupt;SS70V", the carrier grade Softswitch, VOISS, of the US VocalData company is used which can accommodate from a minimum of 100 lines to a maximum of 100,000 lines with just 1 system. The "SS70V" has already achieved a total of over 12,000 lines in domestic sales from its launch in the beginning of the year 2002.
The "SIP-2000" uses the SIP protocol and is a multifunction IP telephone developed for the domestic market. It has a wide LCD display screen to display telephone directories and call registers, 12 outside call line and extension line buttons, 8 one touch buttons to make operations easier, and also complies to hands free and head sets. The optimum solution to match the changing users' needs will be offered.

NTT COMWARE is conducting market development with the positioning of the VoIP based next generation solution "NEXIPT (a coined term from NEXT and IP) as its strategic solution. - NAT (Network Address Translation):
An address conversion method stipulated by the RFC1631.
FireWall:
A security system to be set up in the network boundary and which limits access from the outside, according to the setting.
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol):
DHCP is a protocol to dynamically allocate IP addresses. It obtains the IP address when the client conducts start-up.

- An organization that serves as a place to debate the various technologies (such as protocols) of the internet world. The results of the debates are published as RFC (Request for Comments).
- *4 Unified message
- An application of the CTI (Computer Telephony Integration). It conducts integrated links of electric mails, voice mails, and facsimiles on the CTI server.
The SS70V converts messages that are left (recorded) in the case of unattended calls into voice files. It can forward the messages to pre-designated mail addresses so that one can play and confirm the messages at the pre-designated mail address.
