Upgrading and expansion of the Softswitch "SS70V" solution IAD line-up

NTT COMWARE CORPORATION (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Yuji Matsuo) has for its IP based next generation network solution series NEXIPT's (NEXIPT: a coined term from NEXT and IP) Softswitch "SS70V" solution, approved and will begin sales as of December 1st of the AudioCodes (Head Office: Isreal, CEO: Shabtai Adlersberg) company's IAD (Integrated Access Device) "MediaPac Series (MP Series)". This will enable the use of analog telephones on the VoIP network.

[ Integrated solution characteristics ]

IAD which is a device that connects analog telephones to the VoIP network to be added to the Softswitch "SS70V" solution are the "MP-104", the "MP-108" and the "MP-124". They are able to respectively house 4, 8 and 24 analog telephones. As it is possible to continue to use existing analog telephones and/or lines, new LAN wiring constructions are not necessary and therefore VoIP installment becomes simple. The "MP-104" and the "MP-108" are set to connect 1 line directly to the public network during power failures, thus enabling emergency calls even during power failures. Also, even with analog telephones, in order to increase convenience, it is possible to perform such functions of the IP telephone as designated call receipt, pick-up, voice mail, call waiting, as well as after answer / non conditional / during call / and answer delay transfer. Furthermore, it is possible to use sophisticated functions such as simplified ACD (*1) and/or telephone conference reservation functions as well.

[ Solution expansion ]

Up to now, the Softswitch "SS70V"" solution has provided IAD which can house 2 analog telephones. With this line-up enhancement, it is now possible to VoIP network a sizable number of analog telephones used in places such as school classrooms and/or stores which do not have the necessity for LAN wires. It has the same functions as those of IP telephones and can also be used as business phones in offices. With the IAD line-up enhancement it has now become possible to answer the needs of a wider range of customers.
Also, the Softswitch "SS70V" solution conforms to IP Centrex as well. By installing the Softswitch "SS70V" solution, telecommunication carriers will be able to provide IP Centrex service to customers that wish to use analog telephones as well and thereby being able to obtain more customers.

[ Softswitch "SS70V" solution performance ]

The "SS70V" solution with the Softswitch as its core achieves high level communication environment with toll call management, traffic control systems, private band PHS, Gateway and integration of IP telephones. This solution has provided not only functions such as extension line calls, hold, transfer, pick-up, simultaneous calling tones, caller information displays and call waiting, but also a wide array of expansion services such as audio conferencing, voice mail and unified messages (*2). The VocalData company's carrier grade Softswitch VOISS is used as the platform for this Softswitch and it accommodates from a minimum of 100 extension lines to a maximum of 100 thousand extension lines in one system. From the beginning of its domestic sales in 2002 to the present, a total of over 25,000 lines have been sold.
