Alliance strengthened with the sales of the "Server Base Computing (SBC)" tool
- (The SBC tool "Canaveral iQ" drastically reduces system operation costs -
(Sales started by NTT Comware East Corporation)

Tomen Cyber-Business Solutions, Inc. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Takumi Nishimura, ‚ˆereinafter, TCB) and NTT Comware East Corporation (Head Office: Taito-ku, Tokyo, President: Junichi Yokogoshi, hereinafter, NTT Comware East) have formed an alliance and on January 8th will start sales of the Server Base Computing (SBC) tool "Canaveral iQ" which integrates application software in servers and allows the user to use the application software by accessing the server. This SBC tool was developed by the US Tarantella, Inc. and its Japanese version is being developed by TCB.

[ SBC outline ]

The SBC is a system where application software is installed in the server side and the client is able to use these by accessing the server. With the Client / Server system it was necessary to install application software into each client terminal, however with the installation of the SBC this is no longer necessary. Thereby, the company system manager is able to conduct (1) daily support operations (2) asset management of computer terminals (3) high level security measures and (4) transitions to Web corresponding systems in a centralized fashion thus drastically reducing operation costs such as maintenance / management. Also, by centralizing operation application software that is used within the company such as work attendance management and daily reports it is possible to conduct the same operations whether it is in the company or outside of the company, as long as there is an environment where it is possible to access the internet. thus creating an ubiquitous environment. Furthermore, since the application software is executed on the server side it is possible to conduct operation procedures regardless of the capability of the client's computer.

[ Canaveral iQ outline ]

The "Canaveral iQ" is a tool which makes SBC of Windows Client / Server systems possible. Installation and settings are simple and it is possible to set up server architecture in a short time, on average about 20 minutes. Compared to similar products of other companies, the time necessary for setting up the system architecture is about one half and the license cost is about a half to one third and thus substantial installation cost reduction is possible.

[ Alliance details ]

NTT Comware East Corporation will conduct strong promotions of sales through (1) the establishment of a technical support team consisting of accredited qualified technicians, (2) the establishment of an exclusive sales team and (3) the permanent establishment of a demonstration environment of the "Canaveral iQ". TCB will strongly support sales by establishing a product information provision system and a technical support system. Furthermore, the two companies will jointly develop new solutions for the "Canaveral iQ" as well as conduct PR activities such as introduction seminars.

[ Market development of the Canaveral IQ ]

NTT Comware East Corporation will make a proposal to each of the NTT Group companies regarding the installation of the "Canaveral iQ". Also, while promoting collaborations with other NTT Group companies, NTT Comware East Corporation will conduct sales promotions focusing on companies that wish to "reduce operation costs while ensuring high security on an enterprise level" and/or companies that have "deferred the installation of the SBC due to installation costs".

[ Past performance and future developments ]

NTT Comware Corporation has installed the SBC tool, "Tarantella Enterprise 3" which was developed by Tarantella, Inc. and which Japanese version was developed by TCB into approximately 170 sites focusing on the communication field. In large scale companies it is operated in parallel with differing server systems such as Main‚†rame, UNIX, Linux and Windows. The "Tarantella Enterprise 3" allows integrated usage on client terminal Web browsers such as personal computers without revising the application software of each of the server systems. By lining up the "Tarantella Enterprise 3" with the "Canaveral iQ" as SBC tools, it is possible to respond to all SBC demands from large scale to small scale companies. Total sales of approximately 300 million yen by the end of March 2006 for both products is targeted.
