- Compatible with .Phone IP Centrex, NTT Communication's VoIP service -

NTT COMWARE CORPORATION (hereinafter, NTT COMWARE; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuhji Imai) will begin sales of Business Communications Solutions SS70V Release 5 (hereinafter, SS70V) of VoIP Solution Series NEXIPT on July 1, 2004. In order to maximize the benefits of VoIP, through API (Application Program Interface), it is possible to link this with existing internal company business systems which results in increased convenience and productivity for business.

[ Overview ]

SS70 Release 5 provides an API that allows companies to link softswitches to their company business systems. These links increase the convenience of business systems in the following ways: (1) when an employee' position changes, such as during personnel transfers, by simply entering this information into the personnel system, all telephone settings will change automatically; (2) a telephone call can be placed simply by clicking the name listed in the mailer, browser or groupware telephone directory; (3) users can change the settings for call-forwarding and message recording through the browser on their personal computers.
In addition, SS70V is compatible with mobile telecommunications devices. It includes functions essential for office use such as pick-up and call-forwarding functions with wireless LAN compatible mobile IP telephones and PHS telephones. SS70V can help in creating a comfortable work environment by creating a wiring-free space that makes it possible to easily change the office layout at any time, and which allows for communication that is not constrained by location.
Furthermore, from July 1, SS70V will be able to connect to NTT COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION' (hereinafter, NTT Com; Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masanobu Suzuki) corporate IP phone service .Phone IP Centrex (*1). Companies that use SS70V and enter NTT Com' .Phone IP Centrex Standard-type IP-PBX connection plan will have access to an economic IP phone service through a 050 number. The diversity of the services offered by SS70V and the economic advantages of the 050 number will allow corporations to improve office communications while reducing total costs.

[ Solution Features ]

The core component of Business Communications Solution SS70V, is softswitches. SS70V provides operation support systems such as management systems for telephone charges and traffic congestion control systems and will contribute to the creation of an advanced communications environment on the business scene. In addition, a variety of extended services including remote phones, screening, conference calls and voice mailing can also be used. The softswitch used in the SS70V is the carrier grade softswitch VOISS produced by the U.S. firm Vocal Data Inc. (*2), and one system can handle from a minimum of 100 extensions to a maximum of 10,000 extensions.
In addition to the IP-PBX connection plan, the IP Centrex service (*3) is available to companies that require the use of VoIP. Through the wide variety of services and the quality of devices, companies will be able to distinguish their services from those of the competition. For companies with offices all over Japan or those practicing group management, IP Centrex functions guarantee security and confidentiality between offices and companies, and allow companies to individually and freely set up their own telephone regulations and telephone number system as well as to determine the services they wish to use.

[ Sales of SS70V ]

Softswitch platforms, which form the core of the SS70V, have been installed in over 44,000 telephone lines since sales of SS70V began at the start of 2002.

[ Terminology ]

*1 .Phone IP Centrex (Dot Phone IP Centrex)
A corporate IP telephone service provided by NTTCom. Using data transmission services such as Arcstar IP-VPN, e-VLAN and OCN as platforms, it is possible to build efficient private networks that carry both voice and data. Utilizing the NTT Com VoIP-based network, this service realizes both high quality and high security. The telephone rates are also economic: calls to fixed telephones are a uniform 8.4 Yen/ 3 minutes (tax included) anywhere within Japan, and calls to mobile telephone are 18.9 Yen/ 1 minute (tax included). International telephone calls can also be placed. This allows for a reduction of the total cost attributable to voice communications.
*2 Vocal Data, Inc.
An independent software vendor with a head office in Richardson, Texas. The products of this company have been adopted by over 10 telecommunications carriers mainly in North America including CeriStar Corporation, Go-Comm, Inc., ICG Communications, Inc., Kancharla Corporation and Red Gap Communications. Within the industry, Vocal Data Inc. is one of the high profile companies in the field of carrier grade softswitches. Since being founded in 1998, Vocal Data Inc. has provided leading edge VoIP systems and has received praise for the high level of its technology and the variety of functions.

*3 IP Centreks Service
A corporate IP telephone service provided by telecommunications carriers. An outsourcing service which contracts out the maintenance and operation of IP telephone servers. In the telephone system of many companies, the internal and external telephone lines are connected to and controlled by a private branch exchange (PBX) which is responsible for PBX functions including internal calls and the main exchange, call-waiting and call-forwarding. However, with IP Centrex, the internal telephone system is converted into an IP telephone system. The IP network is used to connect the telephone system to servers owned by telecommunications carriers (equivalent to the PBX) which allow companies to utilize VoIP. If the internal company telephone system is set to a PBX or an IP telephone server, this eliminates the need for maintenance and operation, which in turn allows companies to reduce expenses and personnel.
