NTT COMWARE Corporation (below, NTT COMWARE; Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuhji Imai) adds Folder SAFER mini, the encryption software of electronic data for file servers (MarkAny Japan Corporation) to e-UBF Small Office Kit Plus, NTT COMWAREfs business fingerprint authentication solution, which combines a fingerprint sensor with a fingerprint management server, and will launch sales of this new set on May 11, 2006.

e-UBF Small Office Kit Plus is the fingerprint authentication solution of ID/password access
to Windows logon and for various applications, which is currently available on the market.
In the modern society that exposes the risk of information leakage, a combined security measures
is significantly important to prevent information leakage from electronic files or due to loss
or theft of computers other than the system security countermeasures.
The combined function of "e-UBF Small Office Kit Plus" and "Folder SAFER mini" is designed to
develop a quality security environment for business to provide useful functions ranging
from access restriction to computer terminals to the shared-file management.
[About e-UBF Small Office Kit Plus]
"e-UBF Small Office Kit Plus", affiliated with the existing fingerprint authentication solution
"e-UBF", is a system to offer security solutions for small and mid-sized companies with the accounts
that can be registered up to 50 for the PC users and management servers.
This is the authentication system using fingerprints which are one of the best physical
identifications among other biometrics technologies.
This biometrics system has a solution to loss of other authentication cards such as IC,
or replaces passwords for password-based security technologies that even would require frequent
changes of passwords.
Compared to conventional fingerprint authentication products, this kit offers secure operations
without enrolment rejection or false rejection.
Furthermore, this authentication product also helps to release psychological burden of users
as it is based on the frequency analysis system to prevent the information in the system from
being restored to a fingerprint image.
[About Folder SAFER mini]
- E-file encryption
Folder SAFER mini encrypts electronic data in shared folders. This function allows users to share
the encrypted files but protects the files from being exposed even in the case of information
leakage as it uses the common key for encryption and complication.
- Various restriction functions
Various security settings are available per file and folder, including "print/edit/save restriction",
"validated date of files", "Visible Print function (print optional texts, user name and date)".
- Server management tool and log management function
This is one of the management tools for managers. It allows users to set the encryption of folders
and file restriction as well as to manage the operation log of the encrypted files.
