NTT Comware AdminITy DETECT, one of the AdminITy the client terminal management software series
- To ensure a highly secure network environment with NetSkateKoban -
NTT Comware Corporation (below, NTT Comware; Head office; Minato-ku, Tokyo: President; Yuhji Imai)
will launch AdminITy DETECT the new solution to AdminITy the client terminal management software
series. The first part of the lineup is a solution to combine with NetSkateKoban (*1)
the anti-tampering software to protect proprietary company networks (Intranet, hereinafter)
from being accessed by unauthorized personal computers (unauthorized computers, hereinafter).
This collaboration with NetSkateKoban supports the operation of information security policy.

[Background]
Security related troubles including computer virus infection and information leakage often occur
because of unauthorized access to the Intranet by unauthorized personal computers owned by
individuals. Although many companies have taken certain measures such as providing the individuals
with PCs for exclusive business use and/or making rules to prohibit individually-owned PC use in
the office, it was difficult to identify the number of authorized PCs in the office as well as to
take countermeasures on the spot when incidents such as unauthorized data leakage occurred.
Likewise, there is an increasing need for companies to protect their Intranet from being accessed
by unauthorized PCs.
[About AdminITy DETECT]
AdminITy DETECT is one of the functional products of AdminITy the client terminal management
software. This product uses a terminal data managed by AdminITy as a base to introduce/operate
the security solutions interlinked to ensure a highly secured network environment by maximizing
the effect of various security solutions.
[About Anti-tampering software]
NetSkateKoban the anti-tampering software prevents a company Intranet from being accessed by
unauthorized PCs. Network managers only register MAC address (a specific ID number to the Ethernet
card) of authorized PCs, so that the software detects and disconnects unauthorized access attempts
automatically. The terminal management data of AdminITy (information asset database) may also be
used as the authorized access list to enable a completely secured network with ease.

* There is no need of network reconstruction nor update/modification of equipment in principle (*2).

[About AdminITy the client terminal management software]
AdminITy is software which allows users to manage both IT assets and security.
AdminITy creates an IT asset inventory for uniform management of data linking to
human/commodity/monetary asset information collected from each terminal. In addition,
AdminITy enables a comprehensive security environment with an alert mailing system and patch
distribution upon assessment of the information collected regarding security. Its policy management
functions are far advanced including detection of terminals violating the preprogrammed security
policy for alert and auto-shutdown.
In April 2006, the function was enforced to include alert and auto-shutdown functions against
detection of unauthorized software installed in company PCs such as Winny. The AdminITy products
further support the complex task of terminal management to maintain a highly secured network
environment.
