NTT Comware obtained International Standards Certification of IT Service Management, ISO/IEC20000

NTT Comware Corporation (below, NTT Comware; Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuhji Imai) is recognized by BSI Japan K.K. (below, BSI Japan; Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Mitsumasa Tokunaga) (*1) with the certification of International Standards ISO/IEC20000 in the area of its IT service management. (This is the certification of itSMF (*2) and Japan Information Processing Development Corporation, JIPDEC (*3)).


[Outline]
    ISO/IEC20000 is an international standard published in December 2005 for IT service management. This standard has a large potential of needs of mainly private companies and vendors as the assessment standard of effective and efficient system operation frameworks and operation practice based on ITIL (*4). NTT Comware has obtained the certification for the network and server services division.
[Background]
    NTT Comware provides quality and secure Information Security solutions for the customers as part of the information system services backed by ISO9000, Information Security Management System (ISMS) Conformity Assessment. Aiming promotion of ITIL as well as the industry standard of IT services, operation and maintenance, NTT Compare also introduced the ITIL process from an early stage to foster ITIL Foundation licensed employees in order to establish a system to develop a better and sustainable quality in IT services. The NTT Comware's challenges are followed by this ISO/IEC20000 certification as the third-party proof. This shows a broad reputation of NTT Comware's services that meets the international standards of the high standard network and server services.

    NTT Comware further improves the service quality and liability of the IT service management system solutions with certifications of ISO/IEC20000 by broadly utilizing the knowhow obtained through this achievement.

[Terminology]
    *1 BSI Japan K.K.
    BIS Japan K.K. is British Standard Institutefs Tokyo Office established in September 1998. BIS Japan provides organizations with assessment and registration of BS7799, ISO14001, ISO9001 and ISO20000. BSI British Standards, England is the world-oldest National Standards Body of the UK. It develops standards and standardization solutions such as ISO standards including ISO9001 and ISO14001, other than ISO20000.

    *2 itSMF
    The IT Service Management Forum (itSMF) is the only internationally recognized and independent organization dedicated to IT Service Management. The itsMF provides organizations with ISO/IEC20000 certifications as part of its ITIL promotion programs.

    *3 Japan Information Processing Development Corporation, JIPDEC
    JIPDEC is a neutral public corporation and contributor for IT business of Japan. It provides various programs including Information Security Management System (ISMS) Conformity Assessment System and Privacy Seal. In July 2006, the testing program of ISO/IEC20000 certification started aiming a full-scale service to start in April (this is a testing program until March 2007 for the official start in April).

    ITIL is a framework of best practice approaches of IT service management (Information Technology Infrastructure Library). The names ITIL is Registered Trade Mark of the United Kingdom's Office of Government Commerce (OGC).
