Mitsui Liquefied Gas and NTT Comware jointly provide a new service of SmartPit for payment of LP Gas bills
-- SmartPit Billing from Mobile Phones --

Mitsui Liquefied Gas Co, Ltd. (below, Mitsui Liquefied Gas; Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Masakazu Sato) and NTT Comware Corporation (below, NTT Comware; Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuhji Imai) will start a new service of SmartPit for billing of Mitsui Liquefied Gas's LP gas"Mitsui Gas P Gloria" in September 2007.


[Background and Objectives]
    Mitsui Liquefied Gas studied the cost of billing for gas, handling charges and a fare collection method in case bank account transfer payment is not available. Upon in-depth consideration of Mitsui Liquefied Gas and NTT Comware, they came to a decision that SmartPit with new functions would be the solution for cost-saving of billing as well as for meeting various needs of customers to pay the gas bills.
    With the new service, Mitsui Liquefied Gas's sales management system "e-GGs" has the function of SmartPit fare collection as the standard feature, which provides various options of billing for distributors (e.g. sales partners and exclusive agents) using e-GGs to increase the users.
[Outline of New SmartPit Functions]
    NTT Comware starts a service to enable billing to register the amount of gas charge from mobile phones with the new function (Note 1) in addition to the billing service on PC, concurrently with the introduction of SmartPit by Mitsui Liquefied Gas. This service will allow sales personnel to register the charged amount of customers from their mobile phones at custom.

Sales personnel will also be able to deposit the money for gas collected by customers to the company account through convenience stores (below, Konbini), which is to improve their effectiveness in sales.
    (Note 1) The new function is to mobile phone network such as i-mode to access the website of SmartPit Center to register the necessary information.
[Outline of e-GGs and Mitsui Gas P Gloria]
    e-GGs is the ASP-based (Application Service Provider) sales management system. The system application itself is owned by Mitsui Liquefied Gas. Clients use the system through the Internet.
    As Mitsui Liquefied Gas is responsible for the system maintenance and management, clients can use the latest version of system at all times. Compared to the traditional systems, e-GGs saves TCO (Total Cost Ownership System, or the total cost required to own the system) for half or quarter.
    Mitsui Gas P Gloria is a brand of the liquefied petroleum gas which is the first LP gas imported and soled in Japan Mitsui Liquefied Gas (then Bridgestone Liquefied Gas) as pure propane gas for family use in 1966. Liquefied petroleum gas has a small load to environment and have a high calorie content. Since it is individual supply, unlike city gas limited to supply to urban areas, its gas supply is available anywhere in Japan and also useful for emergencies in case of disasters. Mitsui Liquefied Gas provides liquefied petroleum gas to about 2,000,000 households nationwide through exclusive agents or stores.
[About SmartPit]
    NTT Comware's "SmartPit" is used in mail-order firms or Internet malls as a money collection service of convenience stores, which requires no bills. Users only notify the card number shown in SmartPit card to shops to place an order, and complete a payment by showing SmartPit card at the casher of convenience stores.
    SmartPit card has no personal information of users such as numbers of bank account or credit card to prevent unauthorized use of cards by a third party or leakage of information. Sellers can also reduce costs related to printing, issuance or postal charges of invoices and payment slips. There are about 800 sellers available with SmartPit. It is now used for a wide range of services not only for shopping but also pre-paid card charging or payment of insurance premiums. Users can use SmartPit for payment of bills at about 24,000 convenience stores nationwide.
