NTT Comware's IT Skill Certification System Is Authorized by Information Processing Society of Japan under CITP Program

ComCP, the corporate in-house certification program of NTT Comware Corporation (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Shinobu Umino, hereinafter, NTT Comware), is authorized by Information Processing Society of Japan under the Certified IT Professional (CITP) program effective May 1, 2015 (Fri). This program is an index for objectively evaluating the technical skills of employees.

NTT Comware launched an in-house program called ComCP*1 in 2004 for skill evaluation of IT professionals, aiming for the development of efficient professional IT engineers with high market value. ComCP defines a role model expected by company management. Employees then set their goals based on this model and agree with their management accordingly. Employees develop their skills in actual assignments or training programs and ComCP is an index of milestones to achieve the goals and go further towards the next step. The program is based on a PDCA cycle of human development.

Certification Level and Careers at Target
CITP (Certified IT Professional)*2 is based on the IT Skill Standard*3, which has become popular among Japanese companies as a reference model. This is to certify engineers who are assessed as capable of achieving a predetermined skill level; it is mainly for senior engineers of Level 4 or above. There are two types of certificates: "individual" and "certified corporate professional".
NTT Comware's ComCP is currently authorized as the category of "certified corporate professional". Information Processing Society of Japan*4 is the authority to determine that a corporate in-house certification program based on the IT Skill Standard is properly operated and the standard is equivalent to CITP. Hence, the CITP certification is issued to high-level engineers who possess the in-house certification under this program.
NTT Comware currently has about 4,000 ComCP-certified engineers in-house. Among this number, about 1,700 of them, who achieved Level 4 or above, will apply to obtain the individual certifications.

Future Scenario
With the rapid change of society and business environment, companies are required more than ever before to create a flexible and high-quality ICT system infrastructure. NTT Comware, which obtained the certificate of the corporate certification program under CIT, strives to propose an added-value service as a reliable corporate partner of clients with high-level capabilities in technology solutions and consultancy to meet the various needs of society and clients such as My Number (Japan's new social security system) management solutions and datacenter services.
Since CITP is also planned to be an international standard, NTT Comware is confident of contributing to the propagation, penetration and expansion of this program itself.
