NTT Comwarefs Third-Party Verification Service for Enhancement of Software Quality
NTT Comware Corporation (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Shinobu Umino, hereinafter, NTT Comware) launched the Third-Party Verification Service on November 30, 2016, using extensive knowhow in software development to meet the high standards of NTTfs carrier grade requirements. This service aims for enhancement of software quality to realize the increasing needs of quality assurance of software.
1. Background
ICT investment in business is currently said to be about 18 trillion JPY, and is still increasing. The target for investment is anticipated to shift from hardware to ICT services such as software or cloud services (*1). There is also an increasing need for migration, such as transition from the existing mainframe, on-premise to cloud, or to open sources. In this trend, third-party verification is gaining attention since this process would be effective to improve the quality of software products by separating the migration processes in software development. The market size is expected to be two trillion JPY (*2).
Under these circumstances, with the importance of third-party verification, in 2014, NTT Comware launched a team dedicated to testing software and completed verification for about 100 cases.
We now provide the unique "Third-Party Verification Service" for our clients to enhance their system quality, using our considerable previous experience, capabilities of our experts, that is "KAIHATSUNO TAKUMI (Artisans of Software Development)," and knowhow in providing services at the carrier grade level of quality required by NTT.

2. Services to Provide
(1) High-quality programming at the design stage Test experts check the important design documents in software development to support the realization of high-quality software development. This process includes proposals for quality standards or test schedules subject to the budgets and features of the target, and listing of the test items using the unique software test method.
(2) Tests from "a third-party view" and quality evaluation support Objective evaluation is conducted to check whether software is properly developed according to the design documents, from the view of "nothing for granted" or "no prejudice". In conducting the tests, we also provide support to apply the automatic tool optimum in ROI, as well as validation of the test results as part of quality evaluation.
3. Features and Superiority
(1) Verification by "KAIHATSUNO TAKUMI", the test experts
NTT Comwarefs directly employed staff, or members of the "KAIHATSUNO TAKUMI" team who have been supporting NTTfs telecommunication infrastructure, will directly support clients from the design process to verification so as to achieve a high-quality design/test level. The team currently has about 100 members.
(2) Extensive knowhow from NTT Comwarefs data pool We provide efficient and effective services for the test process, with extensive knowhow of NTT Comware using its system quality assurance data, which qualifies for the carrier grade requirements of NTT, as well as the test methodologies of software and test tools to identify the range with potential for automation.
