NTT Comware launches sales of ThinkPad e-UBF Smart Model through Marubeni Infotec

NTT Comware (Head office; Minato-ku, Tokyo: President; Yuhji Imai, below, NTT Comware) will launch sales of ThinkPad e-UBF Smart Model though Marubeni Infotec Corp. (Head office; Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo: President; Sadao Amano, below, Marubeni Infotec) on October 1, 2007. This model offers the e-UBF fingerprint verification feature integrated into ThinkPad notebooks with a fingerprint reader of Lenovo Japan Ltd. (Head office; Minato-ku, Tokyo: President; Sotaro Amano, below, Lenovo).
Background
The Japanese SOX Act, the New Corporate Law, raises hopes of business entities for a solution of security and corporate governance due to occurrences of a number of corporate scandals of information leakage of confidential data including customer information in recent years. Many companies were studying whether they should use a biometrics authentication method to enable a secure login to PCs or uniform management of their access logs.NTT Comware considered to integrate e-UBF, which has No. 1 market share of the fingerprint solution (*), into the latest models of Lenovo ThinkPad as a standard feature and entrust Marubeni Infotec with sales as they have a past sales record of sales of ThinkPad.

Outline
ThinkPad e-UBF Smart Model is a Marubeni Infotec original product applying e-UBF based on the frequency analysis-based authentication algorithm to ThinkPad notebooks with fingerprint reader available in the market.The new model with e-UBF ID Manager enables fingerprint authentication for user logins to applications. The client-server upgrade version (option) offers users a convenient solution including a uniform management of fingerprint information and user access logs.
