NTT Comware goes business with UC CARD
-- NTT Comware and UC Card started to consider a business tie-up on EasyDo, a mobile phone-based credit card settlement services for insurance companies --
UC Card Co,Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Seiichiro Inoue; below, UC Card) and NTT Comware Corporation (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuhji Imai; below, NTT Comware) will start a business collaboration on EasyDo, a mobile phone-based credit card settlement system for insurance companies. The service of EasyDo is scheduled to start in spring 2008.
The system under consideration is a highly secured settlement system using a two-dimensional bar code (QR Code *1) on insurance application forms. The code is scanned using mobile phone cameras to decode information of the code including contract terms.

Advantages of UC CardThis system allows UC Card to extend their services for credit card settlement of insurance premiums, which is now mainly for cash settlement.
Advantages of NTT Comware
NTT Comware opens a new market based on the sales forces and existing business infrastructure such as a number of member shops of card companies including UC Card. This service is to minimize the costs of insurance companies to introduce EasyDo the new credit card settlement system, in terms of business processes and system maintenance etc.
Advantages of insurance companies
Insurance companies enable their credit card settlement of insurance premiums without purchasing an expensive mobile terminal dedicated to credit card settlement. This service contributes to reduce the prospective cost to establish a new business infrastructure. The system also reduces the cost of data management and eliminates the risk of information leakage for user companies since the personal information of credit cards are managed by NTT Comware servers.
Advantages of insurance subscribers
Insurance subscribers have more choices of credit card settlement methods depending on their needs with security. The system eliminates the risk of skimming frauds as they do not need to hand over their credit card to a third party. Credit card settlement of premiums as one of their living expenses will contribute to their credit card point rewards.
3.Future scenario
Other than insurance companies, NTT Comware considers to extend the services to companies which could not use credit card settlement because of difficulties of such systems to apply.4.Outline of the service
(1)QR Code printed on an application form is scanned by a user's mobile phone.(2)The user confirms the terms of contract.
(3)The user selects the payment method, upon confirmation of the terms of contract and the amount of services, and inputs the credit card information.
(4)The center confirms the credit. Completion of process.
5.Terminology
(*1)Two dimensional code (QR Code)The two dimensional code handles a number of data in a smaller space compared to barcodes. QR Code is one of two dimensional codes. It complies with ISO (ISO/IEC18004) and JIS (JIS-X-0510)
