NTT Comware awarded ISO/IEC20000, International Standard of IT Services Management Certification for new fields

NTT Comware Corporation (below, NTT Comware, Head office, Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Yuhji Imai) awarded ISO/IEC20000, IT Services Management International Standard in March 2008 to further expand their business capabilities.

Outline
ISO/IEC20000 is an international standard certification for IT services management based on ITIL(*1). While this certification is mainly used for IT divisions of companies or IT services providers as a framework to provide an efficient and effective IT services, it also gains more attention as a method to strengthen the corporate governance in recent years. In Japan, this certification was established as JIS Q 20000 in April 2007, and more companies are interested in obtaining the certification.
NTT Comware awarded the certification for one division of network and server services in January 2007, and extended the scope for the two items as monitoring/help desk division and distribution business division as a common function. NTT Comware has been focusing on introducing ITIL process and human development for ITIL foundation certification and manager certifications to establish a sound framework of quality improvement and continuous reformation of IT services. This certification award is now regarded as an objective appraisal for these efforts on ITIL.

Future Scenario
NTT Comware will keep developing the implementation know-hows of ITIL and ISO/IEC20000, and extend the scope of their certification as well as to make further efforts to improve the service quality and gain more reliability of users by maintaining a quality IT service management system.
