NTT Comware commences the sales of EasyDo, a mobile phone-based new credit card settlement service
NTT Comware Corporation (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuhji Imai; below, NTT Comware) launches the sales of EasyDo, a mobile phone-based credit card settlement service for insurance companies today.
Background
While insurance premiums are settled mainly by cash or bank account transfer, the demands for credit card settlement are raised by insurance subscribers. However, a new system to minimize such business infrastructure costs were needed as insurance companies had to provide mobile terminals dedicated to credit card settlement for their insurance salespersons and agents for door-to-door sales at home and offices.Functions of EasyDo
EasyDo is a service based on the secured settlement system using a two-dimensional bar code (QR Code *1) with commodity data. The code is scanned using mobile phone cameras to decode information of the code for credit card settlement.The service enables insurance subscribers to complete the credit card settlement of insurance premiums within a few seconds without handing someone their credit card. Users can scan the two dimensional code (QR Code) printed on an insurance application with their own mobile phones (see reference).
NTT Comware provides necessary services required for credit card settlement (e.g. credit card data input, credit authentication, sales data transmission) at the center system through the Internet. This service contributes to reduce the prospective cost to establish a new business infrastructure for insurance companies. Salespersons and agents have no need to carry a mobile terminal dedicated to credit card settlement in contracting the insurance as well.
NTT Comware's center system also confirms the payment record and the subscribers' personal information for insurance companies to facilitate the process of check the data.

Basic fee: 1,600,000yen per month (including the usage fee up to 20,000 cases per month)** An initial cost is required for introduction of the services such as costs for network connection tests with credit card companies.
Future Scenario
Other than insurance companies, NTT Comware considers to extend the services to companies which could not use credit card settlement because of difficulties of such systems to apply, for about 10 companies for the initial year of the services.Terminology
