NTT Comware Corporation (below, NTT Comware; Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Michio Sugimoto) has delivered "Tangible Disaster Information Management System (Digital Pen Version) to Tokyo Fire Department Ikebukuro Bosaikan (below, Ikebukuro Bosaikan, Toshimaku, Tokyo: President: Tatsuya Mimura) at the occasion of its renewal open March 1, 2010. This system allows the users to feel as if they handwrite on a paper showing the map, using the Digital Pen (*1) and the dedicated paper.
This is the first service provided since the launch of sales of August 2009. The system for Ikebukuro Bosaikan has new functions including various training simulations using the disaster map in addition to the basic functions.

"Tangible Disaster Information Management System (Digital Pen Version)" is a solution developed for use at the disaster prevention centers such as municipal offices, in case of emergencies resulted from disasters. For Ikebukuro Bosaikan, the system is used for training on the disaster information map which the voluntary disaster prevention organization of the communities may use in a normal state. The purpose of this system is for the community members to share the current situation of the area so as to improve the awareness and cooperation in disaster prevention in case of emergencies. This system may project the map information of the area covered by Tokyo Fire Department on the desk or screen. The visitors can see their community map and experience the simulations of evacuation from fire in disasters, fire fighting and evacuation routes to their homes in case of big earthquakes. It is effective to be an opportunity for the visitors to think specific measures that they should take in case of disasters and seriously consider the meaning of disaster prevention as their own issue.

Outline of Tangible Information Management System (Digital Pen Version)
This is one of the "Tangible Disaster Prevention Solutions" (*3) of NTT Comware, which utilizes the Tangible User Interface (*2) technology. Users can share the map information projected on the desk, including various data collected to the disaster prevention centers on a timely basis such as damaged areas, forecasts and images in case of emergency. The handwriting function using the Digital Pen will allow users to write or paste data as if they use a pen and map, even in a situation difficult to use PCs. The information written on the map may also be used as a digital data to share by remote areas.
