New Solutions Launched for Smartphone/Tablet, Mobile Device Life Cycle Management

NTT Comware Corporation (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Michio Sugimoto; below, NTT Comware) starts the outsourcing services "Mobile Device Life Cycle Management" as a solution for efficiency of business users from planning to discard of smartphone/tablets on October 14, 2011.
(1) Background - Overview of the Service
There are currently many business-friendly smartphone/tablets. However, devices are now exposed to new threats or security risks such as data leakage induced by theft or loss of devices. Furthermore, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) (*1) will not be just a trend as an increasing number of employees bring personal devices into the workplaces.NTT Comware provides a new one-stop solution "Mobile Device Life Cycle Management" for smartphones and tablets from planning support, procurement, service start, operation and discard. The service will allow the customers to use a one-stop IT services management through the operation to save their workloads as well as to provide a security and safety of mobile devices to be used in business.
In particular, MDM Tool (*2) is used as a mobile device-based security application.
(2) Advantages of the Service
- It saves customers costs and workloads to manage their mobile devices in operation or manpower for IT, which eventually increase the efficiencies of work in their own business.
- Security settings of the service are available for all the mobile devices for BYOD to secure their network.
- Customers security risks are reduced by controlling mobile devices to avoid data leakage using external devices such as SD card or to access unsafe websites.
- Remote Lock service (*3), a helpdesk service, is available for 24 hours/365 days against security risks in case of theft or loss of mobile devices.
