"SmartCloud DevaaS® 2.0" Cloud Solution
"DataSkywalker" Container Transporter Now Available

NTT Comware Corporation (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Satoshi Kurishima, hereinafter NTT Comware) launches the new cloud solution "DataSkywalker" on July 5, 2018. This is a container transporter that enables rapid and flexible deployment to various public clouds on "SmartCloud DevaaS® 2.0" to further promote DevOps*1 for corporate users.

1. Background

With the progress of digital transformation for businesses, the need for cloud-native application development is increasing and container technology such as Docker is rapidly expanding for use. "SmartCloud DevaaS® 2.0" (hereinafter "DevaaS® 2.0") has been widely used, particularly for the finance and SI industries as a new container-based development environment to realize their DevOps. NTT Comware has begun a container transporter service (hereinafter referred to as "DataSkywalker") to easily shift the environment of systems development on a container basis to various cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and Enterprise Cloud. The solution is to improve the portability of application development to operation to save more time to create the environment.

2. Outline of new functions

(1) Outline of Container Transporter "DataSkywalker
"DataSkywalker" is comprised of "Push Container" and "Pull Container" functions to quickly transfer container images.
"Push Container" is a function to transfer the applications developed on DevaaS® 2.0 to the Docker registries available for AWS, Azure and Enterprise Cloud from the developer's portal screen to URI to deploy the images. It enables seamless transfer of applications regardless of the environment.
"Pull Container" also enables the developers to deploy and execute a container image published in Docker Hub in DevaaS® 2.0 with a simple operation from the portal screen and realize an agile development environment.
"DataSkywalker" provides a seamless and simple operation for developers to smoothly transfer the container images without depending on various environments from development to operation phases, contributing to accelerating the business cycles of corporate users.

(2) "FunTest®", automatic web application testing tool
In addition to the above, NTT Comware will launch "FunTest®", a web screen test automation tool developed based on Selenium on DevaaS® 2.0 as a client tool for development. "FunTest®", corresponding to a multi-browser, records the testing operation and automatically resumes the operation. The function makes the testing process more efficient.

5. Future Scenario

"DataSkywalker" is expected to contribute to the sales of one (1) billion yen from this fiscal year to 2020, aiming to promote DevaaS 2.0 to users of multi/hybrid cloud services including public cloud environments. We also plan to increase the functions and enhance various customer support services to further promote DevOps among corporate users. Furthermore, the cloud IDE*2, which can be used from coding to the release process only on the web browser, will be available in the fourth quarter of 2018 in addition to the thin client currently available. We believe that the service will contribute to corporate users as a location-free environment.
