NTT COMWARE Launches New Version of Field Collabo to Support the DX of Construction Worksites
~ Reforming on-site safety activities using voice integrative AI and IoT sensors ~

NTT COMWARE CORPORATION (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Masato Kuroiwa; hereinafter NTT COMWARE) began providing the new version of Field Collabo on October 19, including functions to ensure the safety of workers. Field Collabo, a part of the SmartMainTech® series of services supporting the maintenance of social infrastructure through the use of digital technologies, helps achieve the digital transformation (DX) of worksites by integrating work progress management, support for working remotely and on-site communication.

In the construction industry, the burdens on workers have increased for reasons such as the aging of the workforce and the high turnover rate of young workers. As a result, the number of injuries and fatal accidents that occur on worksites has increased*1, which has made ensuring worker safety and security an important issue for business operators. NTT COMWARE has supported telecommunication infrastructure construction using IT through the construction and operation of systems that administrate telephone and other telecommunication networks and construction and facilities inside or outside base stations. By leveraging this expertise, Field Collabo improves communication efficiency by supporting remote working using video, voice and a chat tool, and automatically records and centralizes messages exchanged in a work progress database to help both improve productivity and ensure worker safety.
From the aspect of the enhancement of safety, the following features of the services will be provided based on the understanding that it is necessary to implement countermeasures to prevent industrial accidents such as falls,*1 which are the most frequent industrial accident, and heat stroke,*2 which has occurred more frequently.

Although the use of smart devices to check drawings and communicate has been growing on construction worksites, it is risky to operate a device in a high or dark place. Moreover, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare includes the prohibition of walking while using a device on its check sheet for preventing fall accidents.*3 This new feature ensures safety by enabling hands-free voice reporting and form creation in conjunction with wearable microphones, speakers and interactive voice checklists that can be freely created by users such as field managers. The voice UI is NTT DOCOMO's AI Agent API®.

Workers' health control using wearable IoT sensors

It has been difficult to understand a worker's physical condition just by looking at them on a computer monitor. By providing Field Collabo in combination with Mimamori-gajumaru®, a service that monitors the physical condition of workers using wearable IoT sensors provided by NTT PC Communications Incorporated, it is possible to digitally identify the physical condition of workers in real-time.

Accidents that occur during operations can be prevented by representing the heights of structures in a 3D modeled space so that a manager can understand the work space, check procedures and identify mislocated and hazardous points before construction begins. We have integrated Smart Data Fusion from NTT COMWARE into our service to enable the digital twinning of facilities and structures, to create 3D modeled simulations of workspaces.
In addition, the business bulletin board shares information about on-site accidents and other information as an optional feature of Field Collabo supporting managers who administrate several worksites and reforming worksite safety activities.
NTT COMWARE will enhance its maintenance support services, including Field Collabo, and contribute to the promotion of DX in the infrastructure maintenance industry through the improvement of productivity and the promotion of safety.
